CHANGE
Why it has been 30 Days Since I last wrote “MOVE”
That is because as written in “MOVE” we moved to Queensland, it's been 2 weeks and the family is loving the change, the lifestyle and the freedom we are now experiencing.
Sure as I write this the country is imploding under the weight of carrying an indecisive, won’t clean the bugs off the windscreen, shit look out of the kangaroo driver, is that a cliff, Oh F%$## … that is our Prime Minister behind the wheel.
But what I really care about is my family is safe and happy in what should be a highly stressful change of scenery. Maybe my kids being in lockdown and homeschooling for almost 2 years has made it easier for them to adapt to new surroundings because the better weather means they can spend it outside not buried inside a screen.
They spend 4 hours each day in the pool, either together or their own time or with one of their siblings. They are not absorbed by the concept of the friends they made over the last 5 years they won't see face to face when school starts, they know it's a new adventure, and they are ready to tackle like the bloody champions they are.
My wife, cried for almost the whole flight from Melbourne to Brisbane because when the plane took off the whole truth set in that we are really doing this and she is leaving the state she was born in, her friends and family still live in.
2 days ago she said, “I have never been so happy, I love it”. Now I cannot tell you how much of a relief that was for me, as she is my everything, the one that makes me a better person. If she is off centre, that throws my world into chaos. Happy wife, happy life;o)
We are no longer a slave to debt (thanks to Tim Denning for the phrase that is embedded and chipped into my brain) as the last reminder of why we made this change.
Life is not a practice round, every day is the most important day you will ever be faced with, try and treat it as such
Even in the move, I am re-thinking how I approach everything to how often I call my parents and family I care about.
One of the lives great full circles is one of my close mates lives just 8 minutes from me… we are both from the same state (Tasmania) and when we grew up lived across the road from each other, our fathers worked together and they moved away when I was 4yo…
It’s taken 42 years, but great things come to those who take chances
Thank you to all those who have been reading and clapping for my previous article and commenting on them, that has fueled me to get ready for a big 2022.
Thank you to those who have followed me and enjoyed what I have created in 2021, means a lot and I endeavour to unleash some more into your brain stem very soon.
FYI, putting together flat-pack furniture is wrong, but it does mean I create entertainment for my wife due to new uses I find for words.
(and I need to buy a new shaver, I am looking like a mountain man)
